We loved Barbi's classes! She is a supurb teacher and musician who creates a very fun and relaxing learning environment. The music is great for both children and adults, so we all enjoy listening to it. My daughter and I (and sometimes my husband) took classes for approximately 2 years (age 1 through 3). We recently moved out of RI and have tried 2 other Music Together® programs and have been disappointed with the teachers compared to Barbi. I highly recommend Barbi's Music Together classes!!

I came to Music Together class with a very sensitive, shy one and a half year old, hoping it would help him “out of his shell.” Well after 2 semesters it is starting to happen, but for the first 4 months or so if classes, he did nothing but watch. Barbi very gently put me at ease and helped me understand that he may be a passive, observant learner, and it was important to allow him to be who and where he was. I patiently waited, while most of the other kids in the class participated. I eventually relaxed into it and accepted it, and lo and behold, I started seeing him acting out things he has observed in class at home. He was quite content doing nothing in class, but I had fun participating, and Barbi assured me that was the most important part - we just had a more low key experience than some. Then one day, he “broke out” and has been quite active ever since (sometimes more energetic than I would like) but again I am encouraged to relax and enjoy my son’s unique responses in each new stage. Barbi accepts and includes every child (and family) that comes through her classroom door. I have learned so much about allowing my child the freedom to express himself in his own way. Barbi’s class is a wonderful, non-performance oriented, stress free way to experience music!

Barbi creates a caring community of families. After a tragic loss in our family, our music class was the only activity my daughter and I continued. I felt safe there, knowing that the support I would find there would help me through. We needed to push on and keep some of our routine, and our Music Together class helped boost our spirits each week. Barbi is not just creating musical community, but a community of families supporting and caring about one another.

I began Music Together when my son was just two months old. I was hesitant at first due to the germs in a group and the age of my baby. When I realized my class would consist of all older kids up to age 4, I had some doubts. I soon understood that this class is about families engaged in live music making - and that this process begins at birth! My son loved watching the older kids move around (like a living mobile) It was amazing to watch him grow week to week, absorbing, moving his legs, and smiling a lot. I became more musically interactive with him away from class and we both benefited! I came to truly believe that I am his most important musical role model, even though I can’t always sing in tune. Oh, in terms of the germs, Barbi is very clear about how to best keep everyone healthy and communicates this goal. Instruments are cleaned with alcohol and there is always hand sanitizer available. I also met some great new friends. It was so nice to get out and have some fun, in those early (and overwhelming) months of new motherhood. I love Barbi’s class!

Music Together is an amazing program for children. Being an educator myself, I love the fact that is so researched based and everything that is done is for a reason. Add to that an amazing teacher, Barbi Beyer. Barbi's years of experience with little ones enhances this class. She becomes like a famous person to them and captivates them from start to finish. She understand moms, too and is supportive just when you need her to be.

We have been participating in music together classes since my oldest was just a few months old (she is now five). i now take my one year old and enjoy it as much as our very first class. this class has been an important part of my children's development. as a former teacher i can say that it has helped foster language development as well as gross and fine motor skills. barbi is an excellent teacher! i would highly recommend this class to anyone.

Barbi Beyer’s classes are absolutely wonderful! My daughter and I have attended Music Together with Barbi for years. Barbi has an amazing ability that encourages very young children to enjoy the gift of music and dance. Barbi is a very professional, passionate and high-spirited teacher. Barbi’s classes are so stimulating that my daughter hit some of her milestones during class. It is the first place she crawled and the first place she walked. Nowadays, my daughter constantly sings and in tune. What a joy! We have been fortunate to experience many different activities throughout the years. If there was only one we could have participated in, Barbi’s Music Together would unquestionably be the pick! I am very grateful for the musical foundation and encouragement Barbi has given my daughter. We have immensely enjoyed Barbi’s program and highly recommend it to everyone who is expecting or already has young children.

I cannot say enough positive things about this program! My daughter and I have so much fun in class singing, dancing and playing instruments. More importantly, the music together program provides educational and developmental benefits as well. It is priceless to see my 12 month old daughter clap and wiggle to the music! I believe this program teaches children a love of music that will last a lifetime. Barbi is very professional, enthusiastic and fun loving. She sings and plays the guitar beautifully. We've been taking classes with Barbi for years and the kids love it! Nice songs to learn & sing and lots of interaction with percussion instruments and dancing & movement too. We enjoy the Music Together program very much and Barbi does a great job trying to keep a germ-free environment!

Barbi is a skilled educator. She showed endless amounts of patience and creativity with my very active 21/2 year old son. Even our gymnastics instructor in CT had asked us to come back when he could listen better! Upon first talking to Barbi, she explained that her doors are always open to energetic children and she encouraged us to try it. Right away, I realized she had a strong connection with children and understood that he just needed to move. She was always loving, calm and supportive of him and me. I always felt nurtured, not judged, in her classroom and by the other families who followed her lead. Yes, I struggled having a child who stood out in the class, but Barbi's example made it clear to everyone and I could relax and start having fun with my boy. She used many creative strategies to re-direct him and gave me many wonderful ideas to help me parent this very active child, in a positive way. He is 7 now and I can honestly say, I will never forget our Music Together experience. We stayed on until my son was almost 5 and I can say with confidence it was the best parent child class experience we ever experienced! Take Music Together with Barbi-she is a one of a kind teacher and we are deeply grateful for having her!!"

Music Together is a great program that all my children have enjoyed and benefited from. What makes this particular class wonderful is the teacher, Barbi. She is always energetic, imaginative, and nurturing towards the children. Her love of music is infectious! I attended Music Together classes through Barbi Beyer (of Songscapes)with my two girls for five years (from the time my oldest daughter was 9 months old.) My children love music, and I believe that these classes were an excellent foundation in their musical development. I'm an amateur vocalist (I cantor at my church), and so I love to sing. I'm so thrilled that my children love to sing with me, and they know every Music Together song from start to finish. As I've told many friends throughout the years, if I could only afford one extracurricular activity for my girls, this one would be my choice!
