Two make ups per semester is suggested per family. Anytime you request to switch your regular class to a different one, it is considered a makeup. One of those two may be made up during the make-up week. Sometimes personal circumstances (job schedule changes, naps changing, necessary travel, frequent illnesses, classes missed due to religious holidays you observe, etc.) warrant the need for additional make-ups. I am liberal with this. Please stay in touch with me if this is your situation and I will give you permission to take additional makeups. Again, there is a makeup week at the end of the session as another option for you.
IMPORTANT: Please know which classes are active this time around. You can see that below or under at the Current Family Info tab on home page - Classes Offered This Semester.
PROCEDURE For Letting Me Know You Will Be Missing Your Regular Class:
EMAIL (singwithb@cox.net) or CALL ME (401-364-SONG), or to let me know if you will be missing your regular class. You only need to report an absence if you know about it 24 hours or more before your class. No need to let me know the day of! Make sure you tell me the date and class day/time you will be missing. If at the same time you want to sign up for a make up class, follow procedure below.
PROCEDURE For Signing Up For a Makeup Class:
Choose One Time From Below:
AM Classes:Tuesday through Friday mornings at 9:15 and 10:15. There is also an 11:15 on Fridays.
(NO TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, THURSDAYS at 11:15 this session!)
PM Classes: Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. only
Leave a message or email a clear message, leaving the ONE class you want to attend! Follow the "script" below if you need to the first time (email or phone):
Correct Way example: "Hi Barbi, I want to make up a class I missed and want to come Wednesday, Jan. 18th at 10:15. I’ll assume that is okay unless I hear back from you. ONLY IF YOU ARE CALLING leave a phone number on my answering machine. I'll Only Call or Email You Back If There’s A Problem - Otherwise Assume It’s Fine!
Incorrect Way:
"Hi Barbi, I want to make up a class and want to come Wednesday, Oct 19th at 10:15.. Can you let me know if that is okay? I could also come on Thursday at 10:15 or Friday at 9:15. Please get back to me and let me know which one.
ALTERNATIVE MAKE-UP OPTION - “DROP-IN" MAKE UPS"
Important: Please do not exercise this option if you have a child who will be upset if you get to music class and then have to leave, due to there not being space. I don’t want to cause you any stress! Chances are good that you will be able to stay! (unless other folks had the same idea or there are no absences and it is an especially lively class, not conducive to extra people!)
Here’s How You Do It: Make sure you know the class you are dropping in to is an active class this session. If you’re “in the neighborhood” and you are having trouble taking or finding a makeup in the usual way, you can try dropping in to see if there is an opening due to an absence. Come and hover in the waiting area and poke your head in and let me know you are here for a drop in makeup. Don’t come into class yet. If there is room, I will wave you in as soon as I know there is room. Again, it usually always works out!
